Summary You will serve as an ADMINISTRATIVE/TECHNICAL SPECIALIST in the Fleet Engineering Branch (8555) of NAVUNSEAWARCENDIV NEWPORT RI.

- You will serve as a lead Equipment Specialist role that is responsible for providing expertise and advisory services to facilitate and improve liaison to resolve technical problems, process issues, conducting corrective action assessments.
- You will be responsible for leading and directing efforts of the MK 48 Heavyweight Torpedo build process at the MK 48 Heavyweight Torpedo Maintenance Facility (TMF) in Garden Island, Western Australia.
- You will provide expertise toward the resolution of MK48 Heavyweight Torpedo and equipment issues to include root cause analysis of iin-process failures, facilitates, and acts as liaison to resolve technical and process issues.
- You will act as the MK 48 Heavyweight In-Service representative at the MK 48 Heavyweight TMF in Garden Island, Western Australia.
- You will work on varied, complex equipment, systems, and subsystems associated with the Heavyweight Torpedo build process at the MK 48 Heavyweight TMF.
- You will be required to technically defend and support new ideas and proposals.
- You will lead complex projects that involve analyzing and interpreting the results of these specialized system level tests.
- You will act as a government consultant to industry technicians and engineers who build components in support of these efforts.
- You will apply expert knowledge of the characteristics, properties, and uses of highly complex equipment of a scope and complexity that has impact across the
activity or higher organizational levels. - You will lead and mentor Code 85 team members when onsite at the MK 48 Heavyweight Torpedo IMA to educate the team on the MK 48 Heavyweight Torpedo assembly and disassembly process and the equipment used during these processes.
- You will execute the Heavyweight Torpedo production phase and participates in meetings with contractors, and fleet users to help develop overall equipment support plans.
- You will investigate reports of abnormal consumption of material and recommend corrective measures, prepare, revise, or review purchase description standards or specifications that form part of commercial contracts.
- You will be required to recommend equipment modifications, evaluate IMA test and trial installation of modified equipment, propose updates to technical manuals.
- You will propose updates to technical manuals, identify, interchange, substitute, and cannibalize parts and components from obsolete Heavyweight Torpedo equipment to extend the life cycle.

Qualifications This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The NT-5 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-13 and GS-14 and the NT-4 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-11 and GS-12. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE FOR THE NT-05 POSITION :

NT-04 (GS-11/12 equivalency) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector:
leading efforts and analyzing torpedo build process to provide technical expertise, determine root cause, or resolve equipment failures for development of new undersea weapon equipment/systems. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE FOR THE NT-04 POSITION :
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the
NT-03 (GS-09/10 equivalency) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector:
providing technical oversight to support torpedo build process efforts, determine root cause, assist in resolving equipment or testing failures for development of new undersea weapon equipment/systems. Education In lieu of specialized experience for the NT-04 Position, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience :
Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.
OR
Successful completion of three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree.
OR
Possession of an LL.M. degree that is related to the position being filled. combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
