The Reality Labs Documentation Engineering team at Meta is seeking a Documentation Engineering Manager. Our team is focused on enabling developers and studios to build experiences for the Meta Quest platform. This role will be responsible for not only managing the overall team, hiring new team members and supporting their growth, but also setting the strategy, direction and communication of a team with a mission to enable developers at scale to build experiences that delight users. You'll work with product and engineering leadership to establish priorities, developer content strategy and communicate regular updates on what's happening with the team and space. You will be responsible for ensuring solid partnerships, steady growth, and measurable impact. This is a full-time position. Documentation is a priority focus for Meta Reality Labs as we scale. The Documentation Engineering Manager will have the opportunity to drive this growth through key technical initiatives and alignment.
Documentation Engineering Manager Responsibilities
- Manage a team to create engaging and effective documentation for external application developers
- Partner with Engineering and other cross-functional leadership to establish priorities, strategy, and communicate regular updates on documentation initiatives
- Manage expectations of all interested parties: define clear schedules with key deliverables and milestone dates, identify and communicate risks and adjustments to the overall documentation deliverables
- Develop and implement key performance indicators to track progress to key metrics and goals
- Hire and develop new documentation team members
Minimum Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in technical documentation, and/or developer outreach for a developer audience
- 2+ years of experience managing a team of writers
- 2+ years of experience driving technical documentation projects and authoring tools
- Experience organizing content in a logical flow
- Demonstrated experience in comprehensive technical documentation, proofreading, and editing
- Experience partnering with Engineering leadership to establish priorities, strategy, and communicate regular updates on documentation initiatives
- Proficiency in technical documentation across multiple programming languages based on an understanding of coding and object-oriented design principles
- Experience defining, measuring, and being accountable for key metrics and performance indicators around the effectiveness of documentation
Preferred Qualifications
- BS/BA degree in Computer Science, Technical Communication or a related discipline
- Experience coding
- Experience with Unity or Unreal Engine
- Working knowledge of C++ and/or C#
