Bay Cove pursues this mission by providing individualized and compassionate services to people facing the challenges associated with developmental disabilities, mental illness, substance use disorders, and homelessness at more than 175 program sites throughout Greater Boston and Southeastern Massachusetts.
Job Summary: The Chief of Staff will support our CEO and executive team in driving operational excellence, cross-functional alignment, and strategic execution across the organization. The role ensures cohesive operations, streamlines communication, and advances both daily and long-term organizational goals.
The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of disability and human services, is a systems thinker, exceptional communicator, and natural integrator. You'll act as a trusted advisor and operational extension of the CEO, balancing strategic foresight with a hands-on approach to problem-solving and project execution.
This is an exempt position.
Key Responsibilities: Strategic Planning and Leadership Support - Partner with the CEO and Executive team to develop, articulate, and operationalize the company's strategic vision.
- Translate high-level goals into actionable plans and measurable outcomes.
- Serve as a thought partner, sounding board, and confidant to the CEO.
- Represent the CEO in internal and external meetings when necessary.
Project Management & Cross-Functional Oversight - Lead and manage strategic, cross-functional initiatives, often with no clear departmental owner.
- Proactively remove obstacles and ensure accountability across teams.
- Apply a strong project management mindset to ensure timely and high-quality outcomes.
Operational Excellence & Governance - Continuously evaluate and optimize internal processes and workflows to improve effectiveness.
- Implement systems to monitor business performance and key metrics.
Organizational Alignment - Partner with HR to ensure the executive team and broader organization are aligned on culture, goals, and communication strategies.
- Act as a culture carrier, reinforcing organizational values and leadership expectations.
- Support talent planning and organizational design conversations with the CEO and HR leaders.
Internal & External Communication - Serve as a central hub for information flow to and from the CEO.
- Ensure timely, clear, and consistent messaging across the organization.
- Draft high-priority communications, presentations, and strategic briefs.
- Coordinate CEO outreach and follow-ups with stakeholders, partners, and other external constituents.
Relationship Management - Build trusted relationships with key stakeholders.
- Act as a liaison between the CEO and executive team, ensuring alignment and continuity.
- Foster collaboration across functions to break down silos and promote transparency.
Skills - Proven track record managing cross-functional projects and strategic initiatives.
- Exceptional communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work with confidential information and manage with discretion.
- Operate effectively across multiple teams and levels of the organization without formal managerial authority.
- Use emotional intelligence, strong interpersonal skills, and sound judgment to influence and drive results.

- Ability to work in a team environment and also be a self-starter.
Qualifications: - 10+ years of experience in a fast-paced, strategic, and operational role within the disability, human services or homelessness system. A portion of this experience may be lived experience with a disability or homelessness.
- Bachelor's degree required; MSW or other advanced degree in a related field is a plus.
