Position Summary: As a key member of NJIT's Office of Research, the ResearchAdministrator is responsible for all administrative aspects of sponsoredresearch activities. This role requires a thorough understanding of the entiregrant lifecycle, from proposal development and compliance review to directsubmission and award administration, with a strong emphasis on setting upsubawards and vigilant monitoring. The specialist serves as the primaryadministrative liaison, ensuring that all aspects, particularly subrecipientagreements and their ongoing compliance, align with all relevant regulations.They also serve as the primary point of contact for faculty, external partners,sponsors, and the university's expectations.
Essential Functions: Pre-AwardSupport:
-Assist faculty and researchers inidentifying funding opportunities from federal agencies (e.g., NIH, NSF, DOD),foundations, and other sponsors.
-Initiates and oversees the preparationand submission of proposals for external funding, assists faculty in developingbudgets, budget narratives, supporting documents, and
all duties related to thepre-award process, utilizing NJIT's Streamlyne platform for proposaldevelopment.
-Our customer service-oriented approachdrives our pre-award support. We thoroughly review all incoming awards andsponsor documentation to ensure compliance with federal regulations, universitypolicies, and sponsor guidelines.
Collaborative Engagement:
-Through collaborative efforts, our teamprepares and negotiates all essential documents (e.g., subrecipient agreements,amendments, consultant agreements), streamlining the award processing,acceptance, and setup. Additionally, we ensure a seamless transition topost-award management by reviewing reporting requirements, rebalancing budgets,and coordinating with NJIT's General Counsel to secure legal consent, as wellas collating all necessary administrative compliance documentation.
-Actively updates skill sets andcertifications, such as maintaining regular certification compliance withplatforms like the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative Program(CITI).
-Demonstration and proactive understandingof essential electronic systems, including eRA systems, Microsoft Office Suite software,including word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, and Adobe applications.
-Ability to be flexible and adaptive tochanging priorities and complex challenges in a fast-paced research environment,juggle competing priorities, and meet required deadlines.
Prerequisite Qualifications: -Bachelor's Degree.
-2-4 years of Relevant Experience in research administration, grant and contractproposal preparation, and submission is required.
-Project Management: Ability to workindependently and as a team member, research and resolve problems, meetdeadlines, and follow through on assignments with minimal direction.
-Knowledge of the processes,online systems, and operations of the leading federal funding agencies, such asNSF, NIH, DARPA, DoE, and DoD.
-Experience developing anddelivering training sessions and workshops to enhance faculty knowledge andexpertise in research administration and proposal development.
-At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
Preferred Qualifications: -Three years of demonstrated experience inresearch contract and grant management.
-Certification in Research Administration (CRA,CPRA, CFRA, or similar).

Salary Information: In compliance with the NJ Pay Transparency Law, the negotiated annual salary range for this position is $70,089.77-$131,210.76 (USD). NJIT considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses or other items.
