What you'll be doing: - Analyze and interpret partnership agreements to determine the allocation of taxable income to partners.
- Develop standardized technology to aid in the determination of partnership allocations, liability analysis and capital account maintenance.
- Utilize technical partnership tax knowledge to resolve potential tax issues and assist in the calculation of partnership items.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external advisors to develop and implement tax strategies that optimize tax obligations.
- Stay abreast of current tax laws and regulations and assess their impact on partnership activities.
- Provide tax guidance on mergers, acquisitions, and restructurings involving partnerships.
- Assist with tax audits and inquiries from tax authorities, and effectively manage any disputes or negotiations.
- Educate and provide training to internal stakeholders on partnership tax matters to enhance company-wide tax awareness and compliance.
- Review complex partnership tax returns to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax regulations.
What you'll need for this position: - 7+ years of experience with tax research and consulting
- JD or CPA with a focus in tax
- Experience with general to complex partnership issues, such as section 754 elections, 704(c), Reverse 704(c), disguised sales, mergers and divisions, special allocations, debt and basis, and related tax reporting requirements
- Ability to read and understand financial statements and tax returns
- Curiosity to go beyond the textbook, asking hard questions and using technical skills to provide solutions to client problems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to articulate complex financial and tax information to those within the firm as well as to clients and their advisors
- Ability to keep up with tax trends, IRS guidance, legislation, etc. and communicating updates with the firm
- Willingness to travel occasionally overnight up to 10% annually
Bonus Qualifications: - Transaction modeling and cash flow planning
- Desire and ability to review and consult on legal documents for transactions to make sure the ideas are properly implemented
- Experience using technical skills to develop new solutions to complex client problems
- Masters or LLM in Taxation

Compensation: In some states and municipalities, Pinion is required by law to include a reasonable estimate for range of compensation. When making compensation decisions, Pinion takes into account a variety of factors including but not limited to experience, skills, certifications/licenses, and geographic location. The wide range for this role reasonably accounts for these factors. Specific compensation decisions are made based on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $100,000 - $250,000.
Remote Eligibility: This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at a Pinion office or attendance at offsites, as requested/required by the firm and/or your supervisor.
