Travel Pharmacist – Inpatient (Night Shift)
Location: PIH Health Whittier Hospital, Whittier, CA
Shift: Night, 4x10-hour shifts (8:00 PM – 6:30 AM)
Job Summary
PIH Health Whittier Hospital is seeking experienced Inpatient Pharmacists to join the night shift team. The role requires strong acute-care hospital experience with a focus on clinical dosing, sterile compounding, and medication management across diverse patient populations. Candidates will support inpatient services, respond to codes, and ensure safe and effective medication use.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive inpatient pharmacy services during night shifts.
- Prepare, compound, and dispense medications, including IV piggyback, IV push, and sterile compounding.
- Perform clinical dosing (cardiac, anticoagulants, renal, pediatric, geriatric, psychotherapeutics, high-risk medications).
- Conduct therapeutic drug monitoring and pharmacokinetics dosing (e.g., Warfarin, antibiotics, pain control).
- Support emergency code response.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure safe medication use.
- Follow facility protocols for sterile technique and Carousel system.
- Work weekends/holidays if they fall within assigned 7-day on cycle.
Requirements
- Education: Doctorate in Pharmacy (PharmD) from a US-accredited school.
- Licensure: Active California Pharmacist License (must be valid at time of submission).
- Certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS.
- Experience:
- 5+ years of inpatient/acute care hospital experience OR completion of an acute hospital residency.
- Experience in hospitals with 400+ beds preferred.
- Allscripts charting system experience required.
- Retail or ambulatory-only backgrounds not accepted.
