Shift: 3x12-hour nights
Position Description:
1. General job duties. Types of procedures required:
• Implements all assigned Respiratory therapeutic and diagnostic procedures to all age groups as assigned. This may include but is not limited to:
1. Ventilators
2. CPAPs and BiPAPs
3. Drawing Arterial Blood Gases
4. All forms of Breathing Treatments and Procedures
5. All forms of Oxygen Therapy and Procedures
6. Pulmonary Function Testing
7. Electrocardiograms
• Performs quality control as well as maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment used by the Respiratory Department.
• Responds promptly to emergency situations.
• Responsible for emergency life support through airway management and ventilation.
2. Equipment utilized in the unit/dept (Is there computerized charting, medication systems, etc.): EPIC charting system, Pyxis
3. Required skills and minimum years of experience:
Ventilators
CPAPs and BiPAPs
Drawing Arterial Blood Gases
All forms of Breathing Treatments and Procedures
All forms of Oxygen Therapy and Procedures
Electrocardiograms
6 months experience.
4. Specific licensures and certifications/registrations required. (ARRT, CRT, BLS, ACLS, etc):
• Current IL license as Respiratory Care Practitioner
• American Heart Association BLS Certification, NRP Certified
• Certified or Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care
5. Shift or schedule requirements. (Will the employee ever work alone? Is call required? If so, how often? Are weekends required?):
Second and Third shift, no call, weekends rotating
6. Floating to other units/departments. (If so, to which units/departments?):
Covering Respiratory treatments throughout the hospital.
