Job Summary
Seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to join the Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) team in an acute care setting. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience working in surgical technology, specifically within cardiovascular or similar operating room environments. This role supports surgeons and medical staff by preparing and maintaining a sterile surgical environment and ensuring proper instrumentation during procedures.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Prepare the operating room with necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment for cardiovascular surgeries.
- Assist surgical team members during procedures by passing instruments and anticipating needs.
- Maintain sterile field and ensure adherence to infection control protocols.
- Perform counts of sponges, needles, and instruments before, during, and after surgery to ensure no items are retained.
- Handle surgical specimens according to protocol.
- Operate and troubleshoot surgical equipment as needed.
- Document surgical procedures using the MEDITECH charting system.
- Participate in orientation and training activities as required.
Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist, preferably in cardiovascular OR settings.
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential is mandatory.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Strong knowledge of sterile techniques and operating room procedures.
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced, high-pressure surgical environments.
- Proficient with MEDITECH 6.1 or similar clinical charting systems.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Certifications Required: AHA - BLS, Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)
