Job Title: Registered Nurse – PCU (Progressive Care Unit)

Contract Length: 16 weeks
Shift: 3x12 Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) or Days (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
Weekly Breakdown:
Weekly Gross: $2,305.00 Per Week
On W2(Taxable): $828.00 Per Week
Stipend(Non-Taxable): $1,477.00 Per Week
Position Overview: Join the surgical oncology team on a fast-paced, high-acuity PCU/Med-Surg hybrid unit at a nationally recognized teaching hospital. As a Registered Nurse, you’ll deliver critical care to adult and geriatric patients undergoing complex oncologic surgeries. This role offers an opportunity to expand your clinical skills in a supportive, interdisciplinary environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care on a mixed acuity surgical oncology floor
- Care for patients undergoing surgeries including breast, colorectal, hepatobiliary, plastic/reconstructive, orthopedic, and cardiothoracic procedures
- Monitor and respond to PCU-level needs including telemetry, drips, and complex medication regimens
- Administer chemotherapy, blood transfusions, and IV antibiotics
- Manage oncologic emergencies including cytokine release syndrome
- Maintain rigorous infection prevention and patient fall protocols
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary support teams (PT, RT, IV team, RRT, Pharmacy, etc.)
- Float to other acute care oncology units as needed
Required Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience in PCU/Stepdown or Medical-Surgical unit
- Strong surgical patient care background, preferably in oncology
- Experience with EPIC charting system
- Travel experience not required but willingness to adapt and learn is essential
- Prior teaching hospital experience a plus

- Interpretation & management of dysrhythmias
- Tracheostomy care, external CPAP/BiPAP
- Chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac)
- Insulin and Heparin drip administration
- Use of GE telemetry (B450 monitors), Alaris pumps, Stryker beds, bladder scanners
