A Day in the Life of an ICU Charge RN at Providence Medford Medical Center
No two days are the same in the ICU, and that’s what makes it extraordinary. You’ll begin your shift with a thorough handoff and patient assessment, rapidly adapting to changes in vital signs and clinical status. You’ll manage life-saving equipment such as ventilators, central lines, and multiple drips — always acting as both advocate and anchor for patients and their families.
The Charge Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional, comprehensive nursing care for patients in an acute care environment. Responsible for the workflow of the unit under the direction of the unit management team. Determines unit priorities for assigned timeframe with regard to patient care, patient flow (bed control), staffing and distribution of resources. Responsible for ensuring adherence to standards and regulations.
Is also accountable for the delivery of coordinated, safe, compassionate, therapeutic, evidence-based quality care to patients and families, based on individual physical, emotional, and spiritual needs, and appropriate care strategies throughout the lifespan. Practices in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act in the state of employment, the American Nurses Association (ANA) Code of Ethics for Nurses, and the ANA scope and standards of practice. Required Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
- Upon hire: Oregon Registered Nurse License
- Upon hire: National Provider ACLS - American Heart Association
- Upon hire: National Provider BLS - American Heart Association
- Upon hire: RN license in state of hire and wherever care is provided.
- 1 year Nursing experience with demonstrated leadership abilities.
