Job Overview
Seeking an experienced Pediatric RN with NICU background for a mixed pediatric/neonatal subacute unit. This 13-bed specialized unit cares for complex neonatal and pediatric patients transitioning from acute care, with focus on feeding rehabilitation, oxygen management, and neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS).
Requirements & Qualifications
Licensure & Certifications
- Active MD RN or Compact License (required at submission)
- BLS (AHA)
- Preferred: PALS, NRP
Experience (Non-Negotiable)
- 2+ years NICU experience (required in work history)
- Experience with:
- Neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS), prematurity, BPD, chronic lung disease
- NG/g-tube feedings, oxygen therapy (high flow), thermoregulation
- Blood transfusions, TPN administration, central line care
- First-time travelers accepted
Technical Skills
- Patient Ratio: 1:4 (consistent across shifts)
- Equipment: Oxygen delivery systems, feeding tubes, IV therapy
- Procedures: ROP exams, circumcisions, phlebotomy
Schedule & Unit Details
- Shift: 3x12-hour days or nights (choice available)
- Floating: Required to sister units and main Baltimore campus as needed
- Holidays: Worked as scheduled
- Pre-Approved Time Off: 1 request allowed (≤7 days; >4 days adds contract week)
Patient Population
- Ages: Neonates, infants, pediatrics
- Common Diagnoses: BPD, ROP, Pierre Robin, TBI, metabolic disorders
- Unit Focus: Subacute rehabilitation for complex neonatal/pediatric conditions
