Position: Registered Nurse (RN) – Cardiac ICU (CVICU)
Location: Baltimore, MD 21201
Shift: Night 3x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:30)
Contract Duration :16 weeks
Weekly Breakdown:
Weekly Gross: $2,516.00 Per Week
On W2(Taxable): $864.00 Per Week
Stipend(Non-Taxable): $1,652.00 Per Week
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 2 years CVICU experience preferred
- Charge Nurse Experience: Preferred
- Patient Ratio Experience: 1:1 to 1:3
- Certifications:
- Required: BLS, ACLS, CPI
- Preferred: CCRN
- Charting System: Epic required
- Preferred Experience:
- Teaching hospital
- Trauma Level I & II
- Licensing: Active MD or Compact RN License required
- References: Two professional references (manager + charge RN preferred)
Clinical Skills & Procedures
- Cardiovascular Support & Devices:
- Impella, IABP, LVAD, RVAD, ECMO (preferred), PA Swan-Ganz monitoring, Sheath removal, TAVI/TAVR, Valve repair/replacement, post-cardiac surgery care (not direct OR)
- Vascular Access & IV Therapy:
- IV therapy, PICC, arterial line, central line care, blood product administration, port access
- Respiratory/Thoracic:
- Ventilator management, HFNC, suctioning, chest tube insertion/removal, BiPAP/CPAP management
- Renal & Medications:
- CRRT, CVVHD, continuous sedation/paralytics, titration of vasoactive and cardiac drips, emergency medications, procedural sedation
- Neurological:
- CVA/stroke management, hypothermia protocols (Arctic Sun)
- Other:
- Chemotherapy administration (preferred), infection control, phlebotomy, surgical wounds with drains, IV insulin protocols, thermoregulation for burns
Unit Details
- Unit: Cardiac ICU – 15 beds, census approx. 10 patients
- Patient Population: Adult cardiac patients with complex diagnoses such as cardiogenic shock, cardiac arrest, heart failure, arrhythmias, pulmonary hypertension, advanced therapies (LVAD, transplant workups), mechanical support devices
- Interdisciplinary Team Support: PT, Respiratory, Pharmacy, Social Services, Radiology, Phlebotomy, Unit Secretary
- Special Equipment: Impella, VAD, IABP, CRRT, ventilators, cooling devices, cardiac output monitors
