Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse

Unit: 6 Valley Pavilion PCU
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
Start Date: 08/11/2025
Shift Options: Both day and night shifts are available, with the option to choose between 36-hour or 48-hour schedules.
- Night Shift: 4x12-Hour (19:00–07:00) - 48 hours/week
- Night Shift: 3x12-Hour (19:00–07:00) - 36 hours/week
- Day Shift: 3x12-Hour (7:00 19:30) - 36 hours/week
Position Overview
Seeking experienced PCU RNs for a fast-paced progressive care unit in a Level III Trauma Center. This intermediate care unit manages high-acuity patients requiring cardiac monitoring and complex medical interventions.
Requirements
Licensure & Certifications
- Active NC or Compact RN License (no pending licenses)
- BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (AHA required)
- Must pass Advanced EKG exam (no exceptions)
Experience
- Minimum 2 years PCU/Stepdown experience
- Required Skills:
- Cardiac drip titration (no titration required)
- Telemetry interpretation
- Management of post-cardiac intervention patients
- Epic proficiency (required)
Unit & Facility Details
- Patient Ratio: 1:4–5
- Facility Type: 733-bed teaching hospital
- Common Cases:
- Post-STEMI, CHF exacerbations
- Respiratory failure (non-ventilated)
- Renal failure, sepsis
- Scrub Color: Royal blue and white
Responsibilities
- Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms
- Manage patients on vasoactive medications
- Assist with bedside procedures (central lines, chest tubes)
- Coordinate care transitions with interdisciplinary team
- Implement sepsis protocols and rapid response interventions
50-Mile Radius Rule: No locals within 50 miles
