The University of Washington Department of Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine has an academic anesthesiologist position available at the rank of Assistant Professor at the Center for Pain Relief at University of Washington Medical Center. Assistant Professors are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. Salary and academic appointment at University of Washington will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and academic rank. The base salary range for this position will be $27,500 - $30,000 per month ($330,000 - $360,000 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a US Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Other compensation associated with this position may include incentive through the UWP practice plan. Compensation provided by the UWP practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization. The position is without tenure, due to funding and is full-time or part-time, with an anticipated start date as early as January 2024 or thereafter. Duties include providing advanced interventional pain treatment in the setting of comprehensive pain consultation and care to patients across Washington State and the WWAMI region. Care includes non-opioid management, procedures, coordinating behavioral health and psychology/psychiatry, physical therapy, and integrative medicine. In addition, consultation regarding opioid management and limited prescribing of opioids to patients already established in the clinic may be requested. Additional duties also include the teaching of residents, fellows and medical students and supervision of clinical care team. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.
Qualifications
Must have MD or DO degree (or foreign equivalent) and a minimum of one-year pain medicine fellowship training (or foreign equivalent). Must be Board certified or eligible (or foreign equivalent) in anesthesiology and be eligible for medical licensure in state of Washington. In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-US) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the US Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
